When decorating for St. Patrick's Day, the overall theme is "green". Besides the traditional shamrocks and leprechauns, the selection of green decor will be huge in 2013, since "emerald" is Pantone's Color of the Year.
Most of the green ideas that we have collected on the Homefix Corporation St. Patty's Day board are food-related, so if you are planning a menu, I recommend taking a look!
Some ideas for decorating:
- Draw (or stencil) a shamrock shape and cut it out of green paper. Place on a simple background, and frame it on the wall. You can group several of these pieces together, and use different shades of green to create patterns, like stripes or a chevron pattern.
- Drape green tulle as a festive garland, or use multiple colors to craft a rainbow with a pot of gold at the end.
- Hang a wreath on your front door. Some great DIY ideas that have been shared on Pinterest are using green tulle or paper, or creating a wreath in a shamrock shape, instead of a circle. The Shamrock wreath below is another great DIY idea from MrsPollyRogers.com.
Also, if you're in the Maryland area, and are looking for a way to save some green this St. Patrick's Day, check out the Saturday workshop hosted by our friends at Solar Energy World. This workshop is for homeowners who are interested in solar power, and want to save money by going green. Click the link to learn about the "Be Green & Save Green" Solar 101 Workshop!
